Tables set for the SME Surrey Business Awards ceremony

Last night our name was called for Business of the Year, less than 50 employees. We cheered, hugged, and then did what we always do the next morning. We opened our site diaries and got back to work.

The night in brief

Round tables. White linen. Blue water glasses. SME logos across the stage. The room was full of small teams like ours. People trading stories about deadlines and near misses. The dress code was “dress to impress,” and Surrey’s businesses did exactly that.

What this award means

The SME Surrey Business Awards celebrate the firms that keep the county moving.

Our category recognises businesses under 50 people that show strong management, steady growth, and real commercial results. That fits how we try to run Sterlingworth. Make clear plans. Deliver on time. Own the outcome.

What we actually do all week

Surveying is mostly quiet, methodical work. It looks like this.

  • Level 3 RICS Building Surveys for buyers who want the full picture before they commit. We inspect the structure, fabric and visible services, and highlight maintenance risks, then translate the findings into plain English.

  • Valuations for sale, purchase, finance and lease events, prepared in line with RICS Valuation – Global Standards (the Red Book).

  • Commercial condition and dilapidations surveys that help landlords and tenants agree facts, not feelings.

Our reports are produced within a documented process. That is not a headline. It is how we keep the third report this month as consistent as the first.

A growing team

We are still under 50 people and we are growing. We have continued to grow the team and invest in training. The goal is simple. When a client asks “Which survey do I need,” we give a straight answer and a clear route to a decision.

Why clients choose us

People do not hire a surveyor for a glossy brochure. They hire us to avoid expensive surprises. That is why our reports include photos that matter, not filler. It is why we call out urgent items in clear language. It is why we pick up the phone to talk through options.

Thank you

To our clients. Thank you for the brief notes, the spare keys, and the trust.
To our partners. Thank you for the teamwork on live projects.
To the Sterlingworth crew. Thank you for measuring twice and standing by your work.
